These past few hours have been big for Nintendo with a number of announcements spreading like a ravenous geekfire across the Internet. They already guaranteed the purchase of a Wii U from me when they announced Bayonetta 2 as an exclusive, but it sounds like I’m going to have to get one even sooner. Check out the buttload of updates after the jump.
Nintendo head, Eiji Aonuma explained in the video that Nintendo has a new Legend of Zelda game in the works, which will rework the basics of the series: having to complete every dungeon one at a time in a linear fashion and having to play alone. We can expect more news about that when the project is further in development, however in the meantime, he also said that Nintendo will be rereleasing The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker in HD on the Wii U, which from the screenshots looks absolutely fabulous. On top of making the graphics in HD, they seem to have also added some different lighting effects to add a very different glow and feel to the world entirely. It looks like an entirely different game altogether.
Satoru Iwata also made a multitude of announcements. There will be playable versions of a new 3D Super Mario game, Mario Kart, and Mii party game for Wii U at E3 2013. Also, for the first time since Yoshi’s Story on the Nintendo 64, there will be a new Yoshi game, this time by the team that created Kirby’s Epic Yarn. If that’s still not enough, they have also announced a new collaboration: Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem. He states that this crossover game is one example of a new approach that Nintendo will be making towards making game from now on. As to what that means specifically is still unknown.
In addition to all of that, he also announced more features expanding on Miiverse, like the game forums, company accounts, more Super Play updates, and active comments on the TVii app. There are also brand spanking (emphasis on spanking) new trailers for The Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, and a game by Monolith Soft, the developers of XenoBlade. Everything is just about enough to make your head explode, but don’t let it just yet. Not before you play Wind Waker HD. Have a wonderful day!
