Gamer Beats Final Fantasy X Lightning Challenge with Science

Ask any hardened Final Fantasy X player about the lightning challenge, and you’ll see see the fear flash in their eyes. It seems simple: go to the Thunder Plains, dodge 200 bolts of lightning, and win the Venus Sigil (needed for Lulu’s ultimate weapon). Turns out the task is grueling, traumatizing, and incredibly difficult to conquer.

To avoid the looming astraphobia, one gamer has wielded science to win his prize. Combine a micro servo to push the Dualshock button and a photocell to detect the lightning flashes, and you get an automated lightning dodging system.

You could, of course, use the old crater trick, but now it just doesn’t seem as cool.
