Twinfinite Steam Sale Top Picks (June 25 2014)

Steam's Summer Sale continues to empty wallets. And so can you!

Aaaaaand we’re back! The Steam sale is still in high gear and, like the weather here in Philly PA, heating up as we head into the last few days of this glorious virtual festival.

With a major new release and some other goodies, here are today’s Twinfinite top picks for the Steam Summer Sale of 2014!

(Community Choice) Tomb Raider ($4.99)

Hail to the queen, baby.

Hail to the queen, baby.

We’ve seen Lara Croft before, but never quite like this. Released more than a year ago, the gritty origin story for one of gaming’s prominent female leads is timeless in its story and gameplay alike. If you happened to pass this one up or haven’t given it a chance yet, now’s the time.

Set before any of Lara’s tomb-plundering adventures, Tomb Raider tells the story of Lara and her fellow crew shipwrecked on an island that proves to be anything but deserted. Mature and (mostly) free of the criticisms that have plagued the franchise, this is a fantastic re-imagining of the Tomb Raider franchise for the modern gamer. Plus, it’s an awesome action game.

(Daily Deal) Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn ($14.99)

Rise of the Chocobos

Rise of the Chocobos

If you thought $30 was a bit much to pay for a subscription-based MMO, how does 50% off sound? For the next 20 hours, you could snag a copy of Final Fantasy XIV (including 30 days free) for just 15 bucks. And if you’re looking for an MMORPG that ain’t WOW, this is your stop.

Set in the fictional realm of Eorzea, FFXIV: A Realm Reborn takes the Final Fantasy franchise into the massively-multiplayer arena for a third time – and this one really might be the charm. With a suitable storyline, tons of jobs and skills, and a great combat system A Realm Reborn proved to be a great MMORPG.

(Community’s Choice) Mirror’s Edge ($4.99)

If you too thought that 20 bucks for a 5-year-old game was pushing it, you’re not alone. Fortunately, Steam gets you and for the next 4 hours you can snag Mirror’s Edge for – that’s right – 1 green Lincoln.

And this is another action game not to miss. A first-person frenetic affair, Mirror’s Edge puts the emphasis on escape, puzzling, and ingenuity as opposed to fightin’ and more fightin’. Putting the player in the shoes of a free-running courier, Mirror’s Edge is a fast, furious, and challenging change of pace from the usual first-person arena.

There are tons of other great games for sale this week; stay tuned for more top picks!
