Yesterday afternoon, Sucker Punch released their standalone DLC for inFamous First Light. With it came a new single player storyline putting you in control of new protagonist Abigail “Fetch” Walker and some brand new game modes: Survival and Rescue. Survival throws wave after wave of increasingly difficult enemy combinations and tasks you with overcoming them while also shooting for a spot on the world leader boards. Rescue is the same but with the added difficulty of having to keep an eye out for random civilians who have been taken hostage. If you’ve played any inFamous title you know that combat is quick paced and can become extremely hectic making for some difficult battles.
But have no fear, I am here with some tips for the inFamous First Light challenges that will hopefully make those battles a bit more manageable and have you ranked in no time. I must warn you that there are minor spoilers pertaining to the powers of Fetch and inFamous Second Son‘s protagonist Delsin Rowe. Read ahead at your own risk.
1. Play Through the inFamous First Light Campaign
There are a few reasons for this, the first being that it is an amazing game. The second being that it will give you a feel for the controls. You have absolutely no chance of completing any challenge if you don’t know how the combat and traversal work. First Light‘s campaign contains training sessions set up just like the challenge arenas to help you get accustomed to the combat and other mechanics the game has to offer. On top of this, access to all of Fetch’s abilities is unlocked as you progress through the story. Powers such as her Homing Missiles, Stasis Blast, and Photon Jump are crucial components of racking up high scores. Also, upon completion you gain the ability to upgrade all of her abilities to even more powerful and useful versions of themselves.
2. Keep That Combo Up
Okay, this might be stating the obvious but it is imperative that you keep your combo up as best you can. Defeating enemies and rescuing civilians doesn’t net much points without a decent multiplier to boost. As the waves get more difficult, your triumphs will mean next to nothing without a multiplier. Luckily there are many ways to make this happen. Defeating enemies at a constant pace, and rescuing civilians will gradually increase and maintain your combo counter. Always keep an eye out for spawn points in order to maximize your ability to produce high scores.
