H1Z1 Developers Offering Refunds, "No Questions Asked"

Always remember to keep your wallet safe from zombies, kids.

The game H1Z1 was released on Steam’s Early Access program on Jan. 15, but the developers have already offered refunds to those who felt that the airdrop system made the game pay-to-win. Developer John Smedley wrote this on the H1Z1 subreddit:

“If you feel like the airdrops are an issue for you, you may immediately request a refund to [email protected] – this offer applies till Monday and it applies only to people that have purchased the game as of 10:30am Pacific today 1/16/2015 – Please note that this is going through us, not Steam. Which means it’s a little more work so please be patient with the actual refund (it may take a day or two).”

The news comes after a controversy sprouted up about a game mechanic called “airdrops,” which made the game into a pay-to-win game. In the weeks leading up to H1Z1‘s release, the developers promised that the airdrops would not contain food, water, ammunition, or weapons for your character – only more minor loot drops such as backpacks. However, when players used the airdrops in game, items such as rifles and large amounts of ammunition were found. The fanbase then had a massive outcry about these broken promises, leading to the refund offer.

As stated, the offer only applies until Monday, so if you have decided that you want your money back, act quickly.
