Robot Roller-Derby Disco Dodgeball Debuts

If you don't like bright, pulsating colors and loud music, this game isn't for you.

With one of the more ostentatiously named games on the market, Robot Roller-Derby Disco Dodgeball finally came out of early access and has debuted on Steam as of this weekend. Developed by Erik Asmussen, Robot Roller-Derby Disco Dodgeball is a game of silliness and revelry. To be frank, it’s… well, it’s an FPS dodgeball game. Individual dodgeballs are treated as ammunition, and are places arbitrarily around the maps where players thereupon collect one at a time and throw it at opponents. One hit, one defeat. The game brings a surprising amount of gameplay options, along with several different game modes available, including a very challenging arcade mode.

As if the game wasn’t already in a stunningly fun playable state leading up to its full-release, but the visuals are strikingly beautiful. If you don’t like bright, pulsating colors in every hue of the rainbow, this is not your jam. The environments are littered with lighting effects from top to bottom that flash and bounce in sync with the drumming of the loud music that is hype inspiring, pure glory of dodgeball madness.

And can we talk about the music? As it should be shouted from the rooftops, Robot Roller-Derby Disco Dodgeball features a wealth of amazing electronic and chiptune adventure primarily featuring bands: Adhesive Wombat, Kraedt, Anoctave, and Danny NeverEnding. The music comes so highly recommended that you should also check out the album on Bandcamp, especially since it’s running for a ludicrously cheap $4.

Robot Roller-Derby Disco Dodgeball  is the ideal party game to get a whole bunch friends together, turn on a Twitch stream, and watch pure joy and panic ensue. You can purchase the game for $11.99 for an opening week sale, or $14.99 a little bit later. Not sure if you can trust the game yet? Fortunately, the wise minds behind Robot Roller-Derby Disco Dodgeball  also have a demo available. Or you could watch the completely silly trailer for the game (which obviously includes a monster truck rally announcer) which is ridiculous in all the right ways.
