8 Purr-Fect Examples of Video Game Cat Cosplay

Meowth, that's right! (Warning: there are no Meowths in this article).

Cosplay is a wonderful, artistic way of showing one’s devotion to various fandoms across the realms of anime, comics, and video games (and more)! Cosplay has been around for a long time, however, the phenomenon known as cat cosplay is a very real, very recent thing.

Twitter user Meowsawn_Lynch is known for posting some incredible, intricate looking cat cosplay. Assembled here are some of those, along with a few others–all of which are of the video game persuasion, of course.

To start with we have the fearsome, villainous Ganondorf from the Legend of Zelda series:

But you just can’t have the villain without the hero, right? Left unchecked Cat-ondorf would destroy Cat-rule, and so here comes none other than Link!

Zelda cosplay is cool and all, but perhaps the best and baddest (in a good way) cat cosplay has to be this little guy representing the soon to be mega-hit Fallout 4:

But wait, there’s more! It wouldn’t be Fallout without some wasteland companionship, and joining the previous Lone Wander-Cat is another Vault Cat:

Scarecrow is a fearsome match for Batman in the recently released Batman: Arkham Knight, so much so that the caped crusader might need some backup in his mission to save Gotham once and for all. Enter The Arkham Cat:

With Star Wars: Battlefront releasing later this year, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ planet Jakku will be featured in an upcoming DLC for that game, it wouldn’t be wise to leave out the main villain, the master of the Cat-Side himself, Cat-lo Ren:

And if that cat wasn’t enough to frighten you then, behold! The cuddly terror of Purr-amid Head hailing from Silent Hill. This little guy wants to be the cat of your dreams nightmares:

You would think something like Pokemon–where you capture and train little monsters to do your bidding–and cat cosplay would go together like Mewtwo and a Master Ball. Unfortunately Pokemon cat cosplay is about as rare as a legendary from that series. Fortunately, we were able to locate the ultra-rare Bulba-Cat, courtesy of cat-cosplay on tumblr:

Cat cosplay is still a fairly recent thing, but judging by these fuzzy pals we wouldn’t be surprised if it blows up (sorry Fallout cats) in the near future. In the meantime why don’t you tell us which one of these cats were your favorite? Who would you like to see given the cat cosplay treatment next?
