Here’s How to Get Hideo Kojima as a Recruit in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Hideo Kojima, reporting for duty.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain lets players extract all kinds of animals, enemies, and recruits to their Mother Base, even Hideo Kojima himself.

Back at home base, extracted characters and animals can be assigned to tasks or placed in an animal observation platform. You’re not going to put Kojima in the animal farm. Don’t even think about it.

Our own News Editor acquired Kojima by first importing her saved data from Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, in which she saved Kojima in the ‘Intel Operative Rescue.” After uploading this saved data and then importing it in The Phantom Pain‘s main menu, she embarked on the “Where Do The Bees Sleep” mission in The Phantom Pain. At the end of the mission, the stats menu said Kojima had appeared at Mother Base.

While Kojima is listed as part of the Mother Base staff and is able to be assigned to tasks, there is no physical in-game model of him at the base. He has an A+ in R&D and and S in Intel. His skill, Diplomat, lessens instances of trouble within a unit.

While this is one confirmed way to retrieve Kojima in-game, there may be other methods of recruiting him to your Mother Base. We’ll keep you updated on any new discovered methods.

This cameo is one of many Hideo Kojima references in Metal Gear Solid V: TPP. His name appears in-game dozens of times.
