[News] EA To Back Wii U With Two Surprise Titles
EA have revealed that they are working on more than just the one Wii U project announced at E3. Speaking with CVG, EA Labels president Frank Gibeau reported that aside from Mass Effect 3 there are two more unannounced games in the works for Nintendo’s next generation console. More information on both these titles will be released later in the summer, an intriguing decision coming off the back of a quiet E3 for EA regarding the Wii U.
Gibeau also said that EA would be backing the Wii U more than they did with its predecessor: ‘We’ll have a bigger line-up for Wii U than we did for Wii.’ He later added: ‘It is the first next-generation platform coming out so we’re really supporting it. Just looking at E3 and where we’re at, we wanted to hold our fire a little bit on a couple of the other games that we’re working on.’
Electronic Arts is clearly behind the Wii U, given the positive comments made by both Frank Gibeau and EA chief executive John Riccitello in recent times. Whether this will mean that the two games currently in the works are new IPs or Wii U exclusives of current EA franchises is open to speculation. Here’s hoping they won’t be straightforward ports with Wii U gimmicks attached. We’ll have more later in the summer.
