Murdered: Soul Suspect Also Coming to Next-Gen

I’m starting to think that Murdered: Soul Suspect might actually be a pretty good game—that is, if I can get past the obnoxious fedora its spectral protagonist wears. I get that he’s a detective, I get the film noir homage. Hell, I even get that fedoras used to be “cool.”

But fedoras have been appropriated—and summarily ruined—by a particular subculture of (mostly male) nerds. I won’t go into great depth (Leigh Alexander already wrote a great piece about this issue), but to quote Galadriel: “You know of whom I speak.”

Anyway, back to the game. Square Enix revealed today that their supernatural murder mystery, Murdered: Soul Suspect, will be released on Xbox One and PS4, in addition to Xbox 360 and PS3. Apparently the next-gen version will have “increased visual fidelity via native 1080p output” and all that crap, which is cool I guess.

Scheduled for release in June, you can check out the latest trailer for Murdered: Soul Suspect, entitled “Every Lead,” above.

In the game you play as Ronan O’Connor, a detective trying to solve his own untimely murder. The game features some unique ghost-y mechanics (walking through walls, possessing other people, etc.) and is shaping up to be, at the very least, an interesting third-person detective game.

If only he would ditch that fedora.
