[News] Resident Evil 6 Deluxe Editions Announced
Two Amazon listings quietly popped up recently which seemed of note: a Resident Evil 6 Archives edition for the Xbox 360, and a Resident Evil 6 Anthology edition for the Playstation 3. Retailing at $89.99, these each come packaged with four other entries in the Resident Evil franchise, though the included entries themselves differ according to which version is bought. The official statement from Capcom is that there is nothing different about Resident Evil 6 itself in these packages, simply that they [...]
[News] The Last Story Pushed Back to August
RPG fans looking to get their hands on the newest masterpiece from Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi might have to wait a bit longer. Word from Amazon has it that the publisher of The Last Story, XSEED Games, has delayed the game’s release until August 3rd. This is a nearly month-long delay from the game’s previously announced rumored July 10th release, and incredibly unfortunate news considering the game’s all-around impressive reviews. We are currently reaching out to XSEED for confirmation in this [...]
[E3] Hey, Why Aren’t We Talking About Mensa Academy?
Sure, Watch Dogs looks pretty sweet. Yeah, the press conferences were hilarious. We’re all very excited for whatever it is Nintendo announced that features Mario. But what about Mensa Academy? Why hasn’t anyone reported on this? We are talking about a game which- and here I am quoting the press release- will give players the ultimate grey matter workout. When was the last time you saw that on the back of a game box, huh? Let’s see Watch Dogs give your [...]
[E3] Lookit All These Resident Evil 6 Videos
E3 2012 has been big for Capcom and Resident Evil 6 in particular, with a surprising amount of content being rolled out during the event both through trailers and hands-on availability for those at the show. The videos themselves are a little scattered, so here is a general collection of what’s been put up. All three characters and their accompanying changes in gameplay are present, so a quick dip into each is definitely worth it. Chris’ gameplay is very like [...]
[E3] Metal Gear Revengeance Gameplay Features The Act of Slashing
Is there anything not awesome about this game? Even the title is just slick. “Revenge” and “vengeance” combined? Why the hell not? (For added fun, I tend to call the game “Revenginator,” “Revengamatrix,” or a similar bastardization of the already bastardized words.) But titles aren’t what we want to see here. What we want to see is some down and dirty sword-to-human-body action, and this video demonstration provides plenty of that. I’m even more excited than I was before, seeing this [...]
[E3] Can We Talk About Watch Dogs For a Second?
Because I think we should. I think we could, actually, talk about Watch Dogs for a very long time. And the video for it which is taking people by storm was only just shy of ten minutes long. Man, look at that header image. That is a thing you do in the game. And for once, putting bullets into people’s faces isn’t the coolest thing you do in the game. Perhaps that’s the most interesting thing about Watch Dogs. What really [...]
[Rumor] Harmonix Creating a Music-Based Adventure
Harmonix, grand maestros of the genre which is responsible for all of the plastic ukuleles strewn about my home, recently put up a number of job listings. No big deal, right? Well. Joystiq reported weeks ago the rather out-of-place “Narrative Designer” position, but recent additions to the list sketch out a clearer- and possibly more epic- portrait.
[News] Persona 4 Spin-Off Novel Incoming, Starring Detective Prince
Light novel publisher Dengeki Bunko is set to release a new story set one year after the events of Persona 4, starring the game’s ever-popular “Detective Prince,” Naoto Shirogane. A collaboration between Natsuki Mamiya and Persona staples Shigenori Soejima and Shuji Sogabe, the story finds Naoto heading to a new city to investigate a rash of disappearances and ride a pretty sweet motorcycle, if the artwork is any indication. The book’s listing also mentions a mayonaka saito, an important phrase considering [...]
[Featurama] Why Aren’t Games Fun Anymore
In preparing to play Max Payne 3, I had set out on a quest to complete Max Payne 1 and 2. This wasn’t too difficult a task; not only are Max Payne 1 and 2 fantastic games with manageable lengths for quick playthroughs, I know and love them both and can quote Max’s spectacularly cheesy/awesome monologue ad infinitum. SIDE NOTE: My favorite line in the series is from the final level of Max Payne 2, in which Max picks up [...]
[News] Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Revealed, Is… Different
The rumors were true. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 takes place just a stone’s throw into the future. That’s what I was expecting. I think all of us know what we’re expecting from a Call of Duty debut trailer: explosions, manly men screaming, more explosions, maybe a few lines about patriotism or something. To be honest with you, though, I was not expecting this. And as someone who has soured on this series as of late, I have to [...]
