Indie Games, Mainstream? Golden Girls vs Capcom? – Twinfinite Discusses

We’re back with another Twinfinite Discusses! While Alex and Austin still haven’t returned from their honeymoon, Muaz joined Andy and I once again to talk about the topics and questions you sent us in. Here’s an episode on whether indie games will ever truly be mainstream, what kind of gaming hybrid filled with different game mechanics we’d love to make together, and which TV shows would make fantastic video games.

Make It So – Stop In For a Cold One at PAX North

[Make It So takes a look at our favorite games and suggests additions, subtractions, and areas to improve upon for the sequel or next entry in the series. This one is more community focused, but you get the idea.] Video game fans were treated a couple of weeks ago to yet another successful PAX East. The team at Twinfinite was really well-represented with seven members of our staff in attendance. By all accounts it was a hell of a fun [...]

Dare to Share – Real People Whose Lives Have Been Changed by Video Games

[Dare to Share is a community-submitted collaborative effort by gamers that seeks to put forward the stories that show the positive side of video games--the side you won't hear about in mainstream media.] Submitting writer requested to remain anonymous. This article and question really resonated with me. Far too often I hear and experience all these negative [associations] to gaming and it saddens me. I mean sure when you like some games like Call of Duty or Grand Theft Auto, [...]

Twinfinite Loop Episode 9, “PAX East and Peeps”

Howdy gang! It’s time for me, Andy, and Muaz to throw our two cents into our closing thoughts on PAX East ’14 on this week’s Twinfinite Loop!  Did we like it?  Did we hate it? Do we want more next year? Less? What? WHAT? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WHAT?! Well, listen up to hear us talk about that as well as… The indie games of PAX What the hell was Wildstar? Dunkin Donuts every two feet in Boston Lemon Peeps [...]

Whoa! Twinfinite is Giving Away FIVE Copies of Mechanic Escape!

Okay, okay, I’M SORRY OKAY. It’s been a bit since I’ve had a giveaway lined up for you all. PAX was quite the busy experience. But I’m back, and I’ve decided to once again throw my inventory out there for you all to loot. This week, I’m giving away not one, not two, but FIVE copies of Mechanic Escape. Take it as me being sorry for my lack of giving you free things. This of course, on top of our giveaway [...]

Dare to Share – How Have Video Games Changed Your Life?

Most gamers would agree that games are misrepresented in mainstream media on a fairly regular basis. Frequently enough, we hear claims that video games are breeding violent killers, that they are rotting the brains of youth, and that they are taking away time that can be better spent with family. Video games are not perfect, but they are certainly not this evil form of media that much press would have you believe. Thankfully, not every media outlet bashes games, but [...]

PAX East – Final PAX East 2014 Roundup

Even though our dear, glorious leader Yami wasn’t at PAX East this year, we had a large and dedicated team in attendance to cover it for you. In addition to your standard impressions and interviews, we also got to ask PAX-goers what the con meant to them, interview a few exhibitors at the Diversity Lounge, and even bring you the next installation in our highly-demanded Showfloor Dancethrough. I’m thoroughly impressed with how hard our coverage team worked and if you [...]

Martin O’Donnell Ousted From Bungie “Without Cause”

This is some shocking news; Martin O’Donnell, longtime in-house composer of Bungie Studios, the creators of Halo and the upcoming Destiny, has been let go from the developer after a 13 year stint. Its not just that he was let go, however; to hear O’Donnell state it, it sounds like he was forced out. Taking to Twitter today to announce the departure, O’Donnell said “I’m saddened to say that Bungie’s board of directors terminated me without cause on April 11, 2014.” [...]
