The Xbox debuted as a third horse competitor to Nintendo and Sony after Sega’s exit from the console race. The platform started with computer hardware and a focus on the hardcore market for gaming enthusiasts offering native LAN, HDD storage and improved graphics over the current generation. Today it stands as an all-encompassing home entertainment, gaming console with expanded connectivity and features and Kinnect integration with the Xbox One.

“One Button to Rule Them All” – Square Enix Awarded Patent for Single-Button System

One distinctive characteristic of Square Enix RPGs such as Final Fantasy is their battle systems. With each installment comes a completely new or reworked system by which combat occurs. Even in titles that are not as well-received, Square Enix games regularly get praise for being able to keep this aspect of their games fresh. Yesterday, Square Enix was rewarded a US patent (seen here) for a single-button RPG battle system. It was submitted by Hajime Tabata, co-Director for the upcoming [...]

New Bound by Flame Screenshots Show off Possible Heroes

Bound by Flame from Spiders Studio is set for release on May 9th for the PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. As we anxiously await this fantasy RPG with character choice, let’s let these new screenshots satiate our excitement. My excitement. Look, I’m really looking forward to Bound by Flame. How can you blame me when your decisions and actions affect the game’s story and even your character’s appearance? I can’t get enough of that. These screenshots showcase the many [...]

Bethesda Trademarks ‘Nuka-Cola,’ but Don’t Get Excited

Earlier today we learned that Bethesda’s parent company, Zenimax Media, filed three trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the phrase “Nuka-Cola.” The slightly radioactive soft drink from the Fallout universe is almost synonymous with the franchise, and has become iconic among fans of the post-apocalyptic games. Naturally, this led many to speculate that a new Fallout (rumored to be in development) was on the horizon. Whether Bethesda is planning on announcing Fallout 4 any time [...]

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Not on Xbox One…Yet?

Are your spidey senses tingling at the thought of playing The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on your shiny new Xbox One? I hope not, because you’re in for some mighty disappointing news. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be available April 29 on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Wii U, and 3DS…but not the Xbox One. The first hint that something was amiss was when Activision pulled the Xbox One box art from the game’s site. Since then, Activision has commented, “We are [...]

Jet Car Stunts’ New Trailer Shows off Jets, Cars, and Stunts

With 36 tracks and three different game modes (Platforming, Time Trial, and Collector), Jet Car Stunts promises to be a wacky new racer from bitComposer Games and Grip Games. From the looks of the trailer, you’re going to be spending a lot of time flying your car through the air rather than driving it. Check this downloadable title out for yourself May on Steam for $9.99. PSN and XBLA will follow “shortly after.” Meanwhile, next-gen releases are also planned.

DuckTales: Remastered Soundtrack Releasing Digitally on April 29th

One of the best surprises of last year was not just the actual release of DuckTales: Remastered, a polished remake of the original NES classic, but the amazing soundtrack of remixed and remastered tunes by chiptune mainstay, Jake “virt” Kaufman. The game itself was honestly worth actually buying for the music alone. So much so that fans were begging for a soundtrack release, but unfortunately that choice was in the hands of Disney and not Capcom or developer Wayforward. Now, a digital [...]

Deadlight Goes Free For Xbox Live Gold Members

Yes, I know it is not as extensive, exciting, or useful as the PlayStation Plus system of giving you free games, but damn it, free games are free games. And to that end, I still highly anticipate the news about the next game going up under the Xbox 360 “Games for Gold” promotion. Especially when they give me awesome stuff like Hitman Absolution for free. However, I do not get especially excited when the game coming up is something I’ve [...]
