Pick Up Atelier: Artworks of Arland in Stores Today

So I’m playing through Atelier Totori Plus for the Vita right now and I gotta say I’m digging the game quite a bit. The gorgeous art design however has to be the standout feature for any of the Atelier games (and the game looks gorgeous on the Vita’s screen). Well today in stores you can pick up Udon Entertainment’s Atelier: Artworks of Arland art book! This 256 page, colored book filled with the design works of artist Mel Kishida looks [...]

[SXSW] The Marvel: House of Ideas Panel in its Entirety

Last week I promised that I’d get the video up of the Marvel House of Ideas Panel from SXSW and I shall deliver.  Sorry for the split in 3 vids, but I showed up after a long drive to the convention center only to find out my camera had been on the entire time. So this is what happens when you split cameras. Anyway, enjoy the panel as if you were there wobbling around erratically.  The key highlight is actually [...]

[SXSW] Evangelion 1.11 is Coming to Toonami

Neon Genesis Evangelion is the premiere mecha anime of Gainax and their re-imagining will soon hit the air ways. While there wasn’t much news coming from Funimation at the show, this one bit is a great one. Evangelion 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone is coming to Cartoon Network’s Toonami block on March 16th. In other news, the third Evangelion film is still not licensed yet. They aren’t quite at that point over at Funimation yet, but they are hoping to [...]

[SXSW] Marvel Shows Up With Noise

Marvel had few reveals at SXSW this year. Last year was their come out party and they’ve followed it up with a bunch of noise. Noise in the form of Project Gamma. Project Gamma is an immersive expansion on top of Marvel’s Unlimited platform of digital trickery. What Project Gamma offers is noise to your comic book experience. To transform the concept of digital print media in to a fully immersive experience is noble. Pointlessly noble. The concept is to [...]

[Rant] DC Kills Again

[Please Note: the above header image was randomly chosen out of a folder on my computer] I’m not going to try and spoil this. I usually don’t write spoiler warnings, but the issue hit stands today. The New York Post ran an article on Monday and DC has a giant splash image pop up on their website, so they can spoil this for you. If you are happening to run in to a comics store though, one of the DC [...]

[News] Dan Kim brings Award-winning Graphic Novel NNN to Hardcover via Kickstarter

I’d really like to explain to you what NNN is about but I myself have no idea. However it’s described as following in the labyrinth style of Mark Z. Danielewski’s House of Leaves and Lewis Carol’s Alice in Wonderland in a beautiful hardcover package, it’s hard not to take interest. ‘NNN’ is a hybrid graphic-novel in the tradition of House of Leaves with additional inspiration drawn from Alice in Wonderland, combining comic, puzzle and novel elements into a single bold [...]

[News] I Ask of You…Are You My Fate/Zero English Dub?

Wow. I mean wow, this is very unexpected. I sort of gave up on the idea that there would be a dub of Fate/Zero after Aniplex put out the imports of the original Japanese dubs at egregious prices. Regardless of my failed market predictions, Aniplex announced that a dubbed version of Fate/Zero will be hitting the streaming service Neon Alley this Spring. The series is reason alone for me to sign up for a month or two (or more depending [...]

[News] NISA Now Has More Standard Edition Anime

Anime is expensive. Most production manufacturers rarely get any returns off of TV ad revenue or any other method of return.  This makes it hard for many shows to get solid returns, so they add gimmicks and premium packaging to inflate the value of the product.  Sometimes it is nice to get a graphic print or a stress reliever, but sometimes you want to just watch some anime on the cheap. Fortunately NISA has finally heard you and shows like [...]

[News] Green Lantern and Young Justice Cartoons are Cancelled

In a move that has unfortunately been a long time coming, Young Justice and Green Lantern the Animated Series are not going to be renewed. There has been quite a bit of turmoil with both shows as their scheduling has been interrupted and their role on Cartoon Network has constantly been in question.  Newsarama reports that producer Giancarlo Volpe had known Green Lantern was coming to an end back in October of last year. “This time we knew. They just [...]

[Featurama] Guns and Games, A Waning Generalization

In light of the tragedy that occurred  on December 14th, at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut, the idea that video games were the source of the violent behavior by the gunman, 20-year-old Adam Lanza, has surfaced. It was inevitable that this idea was bound to emerge, as it is often referenced by the media in the wake of most murders or other violent crimes committed by young people.
