[News] Official Release Dates for The Cave

Just a short while ago at the time of writing, Ron Gilbert tweeted official release dates (finally!) for The Cave. On January 22 we’ll see its release on PSN and WiiU, and January 23 is when you’ll be able to grab it on XBLA and Steam (pre-order). In even better news, Mac and Linux are totally not left out here, so basically everyone’s invited. The only thing missing is an announcement for iOS and Android. The game will cost US$14.99 (not [...]

[Review] Edna & Harvey: Harvey’s New Eyes

Lilli is a sweet little girl stuck at the convent surrounded by a bunch of mean kids for peers and one nasty habit of a Nun as her headmistress. She dutifully and cheerfully goes about her daily tasks despite all this, seemingly oblivious to the bleak and oppressive environment in which she lives. Beneath the surface, this world reveals itself to be far more sinister than she could have imagined. Edna & Harvey: Harvey’s New Eyes is the latest point-and-click [...]

[Review] Resonance

Adventure games have had somewhat of a resurgence in recent years. Thanks to studios like Telltale Games as well as distributors like Steam and GOG, old-school gamers have been given the opportunity to revisit some of the classics from years past, and younger ones who missed out the first time around get to see what the hype was all about. Along with the old classics being reissued, developers are taking the basic tools of the genre and using them to [...]

[Review] The Walking Dead: Episode 2- Starved For Help

I’d be lying, though, if I said that a part of me wasn’t worried that the game would use all of the momentum from the first game to fall flat on its face. Which [...]

[Review] The Journey Down: Episode 1

Adventure games have been around since the 1970s. In the 1990s the genre reached its high point with Lucasarts and Sierra adventure titles like Grim Fandango and Kings Quest. Then the industry crashed and became niche. Recently, the genre has had a resurgence thanks to digital distribution methods and the rise of episodic games. The Journey Down joins the pantheon of big episodic adventure games. Is this the start of a great journey or is it just the start of [...]

[News] The Walking Dead’s Debut Trailer Wants Your Attention (and Brains)

This week, Telltale Games released the debut trailer for their forthcoming episodic title, The Walking Dead. Based on the comics, rather than the TV show, the five part adventure focuses on the survival of Lee Everett, a fugitive con, and his redemption through the eyes of an orphaned girl, Clementine.  Key characters from the comics appear, like Glenn and Hershel; along with a new group of survivors having to cope with those infamous moments of suffering and un-dead chow. In [...]
