Muramasa Rebirth Shipping Out Limited Editions!

I love limited editions. I wouldn’t go as far as to say I’m a collector for these sorts of things, but games with substantial limited editions always tend to blur my sense of fiscal responsibility. With that in mind, Aksys Games announced today that they will be shipping out a regular and a limited edition of Muramasa Rebirth on June 25th. Included in this package deal is a HORI Vita face cover, a skin for your Vita, and perhaps most [...]

[News] Muramasa Rebirth for the PS Vita Coming to the West

Did you play Muramasa: The Demon Blade when it released for the Nintendo Wii back in 2009? If not (judging by the sales numbers this isn’t much of a surprise) then I have good news! The enhanced Vita port will be coming to North America courtesy of Aksys Games (Virtue’s Last Reward). Siliconera has the details, but the moving tapestry of a game re-billed as Muramasa Rebirth will be arriving stateside with an entirely new localization from Aksys Games. When [...]

[Review] Virtue’s Last Reward: Down the Rabbit Hole

How far are you willing to go to save yourself? A loved one? These were the questions asked in the 2010 DS text adventure 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors. Its sequel Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward tackles similar themes while, at the same time, broadening the universe the story inhabits. Ambitious, emotional, and violent, Chunsoft explores deep into human nature and manages again to craft one of the finest narratives in gaming.

[Charity] Aksys Selling Watches for Hurricane Sandy Relief

Today Aksys Games announced that they were going to donate all proceeds of their special sale of Virtue’s Last Reward watches to fund the Red Cross in it’s efforts to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy.  This watch was at one time considered a pre-order exclusive for the PS Vita and 3DS title and now it is being sold individually for a limited time.  Aksys did something similar for the relief effort in the wake of the Japanese tsunami and [...]

[Review] Ragnarok Tactics

Apollosoft is a company well versed in the tactical strategy RPG. Created from the fallout of Summon Night developer Flight-Plan, their pedigree with the isometric RPG has a solid foundation. Since many of Flight-Plan’s strategy RPG’s went unlocalized, this makes each new title from this crew a curiosity to be explored. This being Apollosoft’s first localized game and one of the last PSP RPGs released in the west, it needs to live up to the pressure. Thankfully for those that [...]

[News] Aksys Had Big Virtue’s Last Reward News From Anime Expo

Aksys Games was at Anime Expo this year with a set of announcements for their follow up to the cult hit 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors.  The series of games from developer Chunsoft was rebranded by Aksys earlier this year under the Zero Escape name.  With such long and arguably confusing titles to associate with a brand, Aksys had to think outside the box to put more focus on the franchise. The first game, will be getting a [...]

[News] Aksys Officially Announces Ragnarok Tactics: Princess of Light and Darkness

Around E3, Aksys was at the show to reveal their license of Ragnarok Tactics.  With so many news sources from so many different places, I wanted concrete proof  and not just hearsay (here’s looking at you @ValiantSaga).  Aksys today has made it official.  Ragnarok Tactics: Princess of Light and Darkness will be coming out this fall for PSP. The Ragnarok universe seems to be filling out this year with this and the Ragnarok Odyssey coming to PSV from Xseed.  Both [...]

[News] Aksys Games will distribute CAVE shmup Akai Katana

Aksys Games announced a very interesting partnership today.  In a deal with Rising Star Games (the Aksys Games of Europe), they plan to localize Akai Katana with the idea of bringing some of Rising Star’s other properties along with it later.  Essentially this move brings Rising Star localizations in North America without the European company having to navigate distribution sources and the like.  It should turn in to a great deal for both parties. While I’m honestly not the biggest [...]

[Wormlight] 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors

[A feature where I gush about the game Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors because I can.] I won’t be doing a review for critically acclaimed game 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. The game was, after all, critically acclaimed. Instead I’m going to explore both its narrative and its gameplay to understand what exactly about it made it such a compelling title on the Nintendo DS. If you’re willing to follow me back into the Nonary Game then [...]
