Call of Duty Ghosts? More Like Call of Duty BROSTS!

Who didn’t see this coming? With a new Xbox means a new Call of Duty and Infinity Ward is back with Call of Duty Ghosts. A next-gen entry into the series they’ve hired writer Steven Gaghan (Traffic, Syriana) to build an emotional and narrative driven entry into the franchise. My thoughts? It’s a prettier thing we’ve seen before but aside from state-of-the-art doggy mo-cap I still can’t get myself overly excited until I see a bit more than the graphics.

[News] CoD BlOps II First of Four DLC Revealed

Picking the header image was the hardest part. Activision and Treyarch have started this year with a nicely-sized announcement that the first of four “epic DLC events” would be arriving January 29th and is entitled “Revolution.” This is no surprise seeing as how literally everyone and their Miniature Boston Terrier are playing this game. That could not be less of an understatement if tried. Arriving first on Xbox 360, “Revolution” will include four new multiplayer maps including “Downhill”, a level [...]

[Review] Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

The Call of Duty franchise presents a contradictory clash of opinion among gamers: It is despised by a vocal minority for apparently having the bad combination of being stagnant and influential, while at the same time being extremely popular, smashing sales records across all mediums. Black Ops II seems to be no different on the surface. However, even though Black Ops II has the same old 5 hour, blockbuster-movie campaign, and the same old fast and fun multiplayer, there are [...]

[News] Call of Duty Elite will be Free

Activision has announced yesterday that Call of Duty Elite, a subscription service for Call of Duty players that allows players to track stats, broadcast games, and band into clans, will be made free with the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The free version of the service will debut on Xbox360, with the possibility of moving to the Wii U and Playstation Vita. The monthly DLC that would normally come with the membership has been consolidated into four [...]

[News] Treyarch revamps Multiplayer in Black Ops 2

If you think the next Call of Duty will just be the same damn game as the others before it, think again. Black Ops 2‘s multiplayer experience will be unlike what series veterans are used to, due to the changes and additions made to all its aspects. So to provide a quick rundown: League Play revamps matchmaking to separate players into skill-based brackets. Not only might this prevent more serious, mature players from being heckled by obnoxious teenage boys, it gives hardcore gamers potential to [...]

[Featurama] Growing Pains of Games

Although a relatively young industry, the world of gaming is unrecognizable from its pixely, simplistic days. Many gamers today will recall their childhoods spent hours in front of a TV traversing a wacky world as a plumber to rescue a princess, or perhaps slaying fantastical baddies to save the world. These stories entertained us as kids not because they were thought-provoking or deep, but for their childlike, almost ridiculous ways of doing things. Who would question why a fat Italian plumber would jump on turtles, ride dinosaurs, and eat mushrooms? We just [...]

[News] Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Revealed, Is… Different

The rumors were true. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 takes place just a stone’s throw into the future. That’s what I was expecting. I think all of us know what we’re expecting from a Call of Duty debut trailer: explosions, manly men screaming, more explosions, maybe a few lines about patriotism or something. To be honest with you, though, I was not expecting this. And as someone who has soured on this series as of late, I have to [...]
