Deep Silver Joins the GOG.com Family, With ‘Risen’ Special

GOG supposedly stands for ‘good old games’, but honestly I’ve always called it ‘good old GOG’. The ‘GOG’ in that one also stands for ‘good old GOG’. It goes on forever. It’s GOGs all the way down. But what is GOG? If you’re a PC gamer, you probably already know – it’s a online marketplace for DRM-free and often absurdly cheap games. Well today Deep Silver of Dead Island, Metro and Saints Row IV fame have partnered up with the site, and to get [...]

Saints Row IV ‘Thank You Pack’ Free Today

Saints Row IV is the game that just keeps on giving. Less than a week after the Pirate’s Booty Pack DLC was released, Volition and Deep Silver have thrown in a little bit extra as a gesture of goodwill towards fans AND THAT’S ALL. Today, they’ve released the Thank You Pack. Here’s what they had to say about it: As a thank you for your support of Saints Row IV, please accept this free outfit pack which should be construed [...]

Metro: Last Light Coming to Linux, Bundled with SteamOS

Easily one of the best games of 2013 is Metro: Last Light by 4A Games. This tense and gorgeous shooter, set in Moscow’s subway system in the years following a nuclear apocalypse, is now available with a dedicated Linux version on Steam. As an added bonus, this game will also be bundled into the 300 prototype Steam Machines being sent to test it out. This is an excellent choice of game to bundle for a number of reasons. It is [...]

Metro: Last Light to See Mac and Linux Release

Better late than never, right? Deep Silver and 4A Games confirmed that Metro: Last Light is being developed for Mac and Linux, only three months after the general release. Development is being handled by 4A Games themselves. The game will be released on both Steam and the App store. The Steam release will feature Steam Play, which means players who own Last Light on OS  will own it on Mac, PC, and Linux as well. Any and all DLC promised for the [...]

Saints Row IV Review – This Is How We Do It

What’s in a game? Wonder, imagination, and a whole new world. That’s right, Aladdin was talking about showing Jasmine his gaming collection. Ultimately what we find in video games are worlds where we can be something that we’re not. Now imagine that a game takes that very concept and makes a meta world where someone that you’re not is someone that they’re not. Am I getting too deep for a review of Saints Row IV? Whatever, it’s great. I find [...]

Deep Silver’s Humble Bundle is live!

Saints Row IV is just around the corner, so there’s no better time than now to set the stage by catching up on the last two entries of the series in the current Humble Bundle. As well as the two pimp-walking, OTT sandbox shooters you can also be picking up Risen 2 and Sacred 2 for the lowest tier price of $1. Stretching your budget a little and breaking the average donation will nab you the ‘Ultimate’ edition of Saints [...]

Saints Row IV – Hands-on Preview

To save any embarrassment, later on I’ll tell you straight off the bat; I have never played a Saints Row game before. In fact, I barely knew what it was, other than a GTA with pimp outfits and a weaponized sex toy that one-upped San Andreas’. Sounds… original, but not quite enough to sway me into a purchase. However, at a first-look event a few months ago, I was shown a glimpse of Steelport and told three things: aliens have [...]

Cancelled Saints Row: The Third DLC Confirmed For Saints Row 4

Back on April Fools of last year, THQ announced that DLC titled Enter the Dominatrix would be released for Saints Row: The Third. Later that year, it was announced that since the DLC was so impressive and sizable, that it would be delayed so that it could be incorporated into the Saints Row 4. Over the weekend, during  a Saints Row panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Steve Jaros, studio head at Deep Silver Volition, confirmed that the Enter the Dominatrix [...]

Why Can’t Saints Row IV Wiggle Past Australian Classification?

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before; the Australian government REALLY doesn’t like video games. The world’s smallest continent has a long-standing adversarial relationship with the video game industry by refusing to classify adult-themed titles, and it looks like the latest chapter is being written as we speak. It was believed at the beginning of this year that this kind of problem would be a thing of the past, as Australia introduced a rating of ‘R18+’ for games they [...]
