Make It So – Frozen in Kingdom Hearts III

[Make It So takes a look at our favorite games and suggests additions, subtractions, and areas to improve upon for the sequel or next entry in the series.] When Frozen hit theaters last winter, I gave it the cold shoulder (ha ha) and thought to myself, “Meh, I’m so over Disney.” I had been burned time and time again ever since the release of Up, Brave, and Tangled. None of Disney’s and Pixar’s ‘new-school’ animated movies were doing anything for [...]

New Video Showcases More of Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved

A new trailer has swiped onto Youtube that features Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved‘s new area, The Hollow. Watch as a woman waves her hands in the air like she just doesn’t care. About anything. Where’s her family? There’s deer petting (Disney, of course) and candle lighting. To be honest, I have no idea what that did, just seems like it changes the scene a little bit. Still, that shows more interactivity than what I had seen at PAX Prime last [...]

Square Enix Taking Player Feedback for Kingdom Hearts 3

Just a short while ago, the Kingdom Hearts Facebook page released a survey to players. The survey, which will only take about ten minutes, has Square Enix asking about players’ past experiences with Kingdom Hearts, their attitudes, what they enjoyed, what they didn’t enjoy, how they feel about the Disney aspect of the game, and plenty of other things. What this seems to me is that Square Enix is purposefully fishing out into the community to see where players stand [...]

700 Layoffs at Disney Interactive Studios

Approximately 700 people are not having a magical day. The video game and internet divisions of Disney have been struggling, and let go of roughly 26% of its staff, after financial flops with mobile gaming titles such as Where’s My Water? 2. Although some layoffs were expected in the long run, having this many employees let go simultaneously was not anticipated. James A. Pitaro, president of Disney Interactive, had the following to say: We’re not exiting any businesses, and we [...]

Castle of Yami (Castle of Illusion Playthrough)

When I was little, Castle of Illusion was my favorite hard game. It kicked my ass and I’m pretty sure I never made it past the first level, but I loved it all the same. Because Mickey. Get Games gave me the opportunity to play through the new, HD remake of Castle of Illusion and my childhood was shattered as I found out it’s actually a really easy game and I may have just been an idiot. Watch my antics above!

Ducktales: Remastered LTTP Review – Not Pony Tales or Cotton Tales

Let’s step back in time for just a moment to a simpler time; a time where cartoons would be waiting for you on the television as soon as you got home from school… a time where these same shows actually had theme songs you wanted to sing along to… a time where licensed games were the cream of the crop… a time where an elderly duck could wear spats on the surface of the Moon and no one would care.  [...]

PAX13 – Disney’s Castle of Illusion Interview

So last year at PAX 12 I played a certain Disney game and completely made an ass of myself. “Does this man even play video games?” They must have asked. Well this year I go 0-2 as I play Mickey Mouse again this time in Disney’s Castle of Illusion which I proceed to be an ass at again. “Wow, this guy sucks at video games!” The man guiding me through my failure must have surely thought but was polite enough [...]

Ten Disney Classics That Need a Remastering

The Walt Disney Company has been moving to get directly involved in the video games industry for a number of years now. This idea moved them to acquire Warren Spector’s talents for their Epic Mickey reboot and push heavily in to the mobile and online sphere of gaming.  While the success of these new ventures have been hit and miss, it finally seems like Disney has settled down and decided to invest in what they do best; they’ve decided to [...]

Disney Closes Publisher LucasArts

GameInformer is reporting Disney has closed their publisher LucasArts. The official statement from Disney (which recently acquired LucasFilm and LucasArts) reads as follows: “After evaluating our position in the games market, we’ve decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company’s risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games. As a result of this change, we’ve had layoffs across the organization. We are incredibly appreciative and proud of the talented teams who have been [...]
