Side scrollers have seen a reresurgence with the advent of mobile gaming. What used to be considered too “old” for gaming is now back with a vengeance. [EVO] ‘Aztez’ Interview

As I stumbled through the massive crowd at EVO a game caught my eye. It looked like a side-scrolling version of Madworld, complete with blood popping out against black and white. I also got to talk to co-creator Ben Rutz about it. Though we only covered the beat-em-up portion of the game, I was able to grab some screens for the strategy portion of the game. Little is known about the new game, entitled I Wanna Be The Guy: Gaiden, but it can be safely guessed that it will feature the original game’s diminutive hero, it will contain many references to other games, and it will be hard. So hard.
