With the release of the new iOS, iPhone users are finding themselves with a number of new features that can be particularly useful, but also some which are frustrating.
One feature which may turn out to be a little divisive is the new Raise to Wake feature. This, as the feature’s name suggests, turns your iPhone’s screen on when you pick your phone up. While this can be handy, allowing you to check the time or any new notifications without having to press a button, it can be a nuisance when any slight movement alerts the sensors into thinking you’re staring at your screen waiting for it to turn on.
To turn this feature on or off, all you need to do is open up the Settings on your iPhone, and then head to Display & Brightness, and then flip the virtual switch for the Raise to Wake feature. Turning it off will prevent your screen from turning on when you don’t need it to, saving those precious minutes of battery.
Unfortunately, the Raise to Wake feature isn’t available on all iOS devices. Your device must have the M9 or later chip installed. This means that only the following phones running iOS 10 will be able to use the feature:
- iPhone 6S
- iPhone 6S Plus
- iPhone SE
- iPhone 7
- iPhone 7 Plus
If you’re using an older iPhone than any of the above then unfortunately your phone will not be able to use this screen feature.
