[News] Blizzard Announces Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft

As video game enthusiasts, press, and developers are *ahem* gathering at PAX this weekend, Blizzard has taken this opportunity to announce Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, a new digital free-to-play card game. The promo site contains a trailer, screenshots, an FAQ, and a link for Battle.net users to sign up for the beta. According to Blizzard, Hearthstone is intended to appeal to experienced card game fans and also draw in new players. Hearthstone is initially coming to PC and Mac, and [...]

[News] EA and Tetris Company Team Up for Mobile Game Tetris Blitz

Today, EA and The Tetris Company announced they are working on a new game for both iOS and Android devices titled Tetris Blitz, which is going to be totally free, and offer a new spin on the special, iconic puzzle game we all know and love. It’s slated for release in Spring of this year. In this game, you’ll have a two-minute timer to clear as many lines as you can, and there’ll even be stuff like Frenzy Mode and [...]

[Review] Nano Ninjas

Oscar Wilde once said “Talent borrows, genius steals” as a statement that there’s really nothing original out there anymore. Instead of focusing on originality, it’s just a matter of who does the best job of iterating on the ideas of others. When applying this comment to casual/mobile games, certainly one of the primary titles which gets iterated-on a lot is Plants vs. Zombies. As is the case with anything popular — but doubly so in the wild-west landscape of mobile [...]

[News] The World Ends With iOS Confirmed

I guess the world really did end with iOS with the official announcement of The World Ends With You coming to iDevices. The new version, titled The World Ends With You: Solo Remix, is the same as the original DS version. All hope is not lost as there are some new features which are explained on the official website. Such new features allow you to control two characters on the same screen (which is sort of a given seeing as [...]

[News] The World Ends With iOS, iPhone Version of TWEWY Confirmed

“Confirmed” is such a…definite word. What can actually be “confirmed” these days? Well I’ll tell you. An iOS version of The World Ends With You is confirmed to be a thing that exists. A recent product page on Square-Enix’s store website listed a physical CD for an arranged album titled The World Ends With You Crossover. It is set to release October 1st for 1,890 Yen. This album will have remixed tracks of Kingdom Hearts 3D as well as remixes [...]

[Review] Office Politics (iOS)

I’m a big fan of pick-up-and-play games. I know that there are not a lot of us who have the time of day to sit down and play a 70+ hour game (I’m looking at you, every Final Fantasy game ever made). I am also very partial of portable gaming since I am not sitting on the couch 24/7 and like to have my face buried in a game wherever I go. With that in mind, I think that Apple has done [...]

[News] Infinity Blade: Dungeons Announced

Along with the announcement of the new iPads today came the (arguably) just as exciting news that Epic Games would be bringing another Infinity Blade title to the device. This isn’t the Punch-Out! clone you know and love, though. This is a prequel that looks to take inspiration from the likes of Torchlight and Diablo. The graphics are stunning as always, but I’m more interested in how they’ll take the intuitive touch controls the series is known for and applies them [...]
