Positive Gamers Episode 4: Watch Your Own Screen

What’s this, a Positive Gamers that’s on time? That’s madness! This one’s on the topic of worrying too much about where others are in life compared to where you are. When you’re playing a game with a friend (the good old fashioned way), you’re not constantly peeking at their screen (unless you’re an awful cheater) because you need to focus on where your character is going. So treat life the same way, kind of. Don’t judge where your placement on the map called [...]

[News] Tomb Raider Will Have Multiplayer

PC Gamer announced today that its upcoming game Tomb Raider will have a multiplayer component. This is a big change of pace from the past Tomb Raider games, which were purely single-player. Crystal Dynamics will be outsourcing the multiplayer project to Eidos Montreal, the team behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution (which didn’t have a multiplayer mode, by the way). Nothing is known right now of what the multiplayer mode will entail. Will it be a pleasant surprise or an unwelcome disaster?

[Preview] ShootMania

ShootMania is a multiplayer-only FPS that tries to also be an MMO/RPG of sorts. With a leveling system that rewards kills, surviving longer than others and wins with points that can then be turned into additional shots, quicker reloads, armor and so on. In ShootMania’s BETA, you have access to 2 game types with “Royal” (Free for All) and “Storm” (Capture the Flag).

[Rant] Online Gaming Just Isn’t the Same

Raised with a Nintendo controller in my hands, most of my experiences with gaming included a friend or one of my family members sitting side-by-side with me on the living room floor in front of the television set. I remember my brother and I waking up before the sun rose and playing Super Mario Bros. and feeling like everything was right with the world. To be honest, I don’t think I could have been much happier. With the spiking popularity [...]

[Review] Max Payne 3

Nearly nine years have passed since Remedy Entertainment graced the world with Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne and left the series in the hands of its publisher, Rockstar Entertainment. After a worryingly long development cycle and no small amount of fan outcry, Rockstar Vancouver, the team that brought you the excellent Bully, are back with their take on the beloved franchise. What is it with them and bald protagonists, anyway?

[Featurama] Locked Out: A Dalliance With Offline Gaming

About a month ago, my cable and internet began behaving erratically. Two weeks ago, they ceased to function at all. No television, no Xbox Live, no Playstation Network; just a blinking red light above the word ‘Broadband’ on the modem. It wasn’t until a week ago that our services were restored. During that interruption, I was unable to see what my friends were playing or what new games, content, and demos were available for download. These are minor issues to [...]

[News] Max Payne 3 Multiplayer Trailer is Pretty Elite (Squad)

So far, Rockstar Games has done a commendable job of explaining how Max Payne 3’s single player story is in safe hands; looking revitalised, without losing the sight of what made the games so brilliant in the first place. Still, in a time when most see multiplayer in a predominantly solitary experience as a bad idea, Rockstar still have their work cut out for them; especially when Bullet Time and its implications of online use is involved. In Part One [...]
