[News] Nintendo Direct – A Very Luigi Valentine’s Day

It being Valentine’s Day, there are two things in the air: Love, and Luigi. 2013 has been dubbed by Nintendo as being the Year of Luigi as this morning’s Nintendo Direct made yet another flurry of mostly Luigi-centric announcements of upcoming games, release dates, and downloadable content. Hit the jump to read everything from the presentation.

[Featurama] In Which Nintendo of America Squanders any and all Goodwill

…It’s really quite a shame. It seems that Nintendo of America is hellbent on squandering whatever goodwill and respect the company as a whole received from the news that they would publish Bayonetta 2. I’ve said many times that I adore Nintendo as a software developer but abhor much of what they do as a company, and this advertisement after the jump just seems to be the icing on the cake.

[News] Nicalis to Bring Yatagarasu to 3DS eShop

As shown by the trailer above, the latest project that Nicalis has chosen to bring stateside is Yatagarasu, a doujin fighter from Circle Edge. Created by a team featuring veterans from the King of Fighters franchise, the game looks to be incredibly solid, with eight playable characters, some great-looking sprites, and a versus mode for playing with friends (currently no word on whether or not online is featured). The only problem with the game is that it looks to be quite… [...]

[Review] Heroes of Ruin: Fun on the Run

When you’re buying a car, it’s pretty obvious what sacrifices you’re making when you choose the economy class over one of the luxury models. It’s a trade-off: you won’t have wipers on your headlights (not a euphamism), but you’ll be saving at least a few hundred dollars a month that you can use to… um, buy food. Games are no different, and in the case Heroes of Ruin for the Nintendo 3DS (developed by n-Space and published by Square Enix), [...]

[News] Atlus Reveals a Trio of New Titles

It was bright and early this morning when a flurry of emails hit my mailbox this morning from Atlus.  What they revealed before the show officially started were three new games that they would publish.  Interestingly, each of the games hails from a different part of the world. The biggest announcement of the three is most likely the sexy Japanese beat-em-up Code of Princess from Agatsuma Entertainment.  The beautiful animation aside, the interest in the game stems from the fact [...]

[News] 3DS to get Shin Megami Tensei IV

If you’re a fan of Megami Tensei or just a fan of dungeon crawlers in general then you’ll be pleased by the announcement that the latest game in the Megaten series, Shin Megami Tensei IV, is coming to the 3DS. The news was broken by Japanese retail blog Sinobi, who revealed the news in one of their tweets. This news was later backed up by the release of the official website for the game, although this currently contains no notable [...]

[News] Dillon’s Rolling Western out now on the eShop

For fans of armadillos and tower defense, we’ve got some great news!  Dillon’s Rolling Western, a Nintendo-developed 3DS eShop game originally announced at E3 last year, has been released!  By all accounts, the game looks fantastic.  Despite being generally forgotten by the public, it caught my eye the moment it was announced, and for several good reasons.  Combining a nifty visual style, an interesting blend of action, resource management, and tower-defense, as well as the return of the ridiculous animal [...]

[News] Fire Emblem: Awakening Trailer

In news of how today will be known as “Nintendo’s Good Day” a new trailer for the 3DS Fire Emblem game titled Fire Emblem: Awakening has been released over Nintendo Direct. The game which is the first Fire Emblem game for the 3DS console features a new art style and protagonist. The game will also have a difficulty setting in which you can choose to have perma-death or not. Frankly though I don’t see how any fans of the original [...]

[News] Etrian Odyssey Coming for 3DS

Dungeon crawlers rejoice! Etrian Odyssey IV: Legend of the Giant God will be hitting the 3DS. Atlus’ fun dungeon mapping adventure will come with a new setting allowing players to choose their difficulty with easier difficulty for beginners and harder difficulties for the experienced adventurer. Familiar names are attached to the project with Yuji Himukai returning as character designer which means more adorable designs in what can only be described as “Amazingly Adorable Moe Blobs” (AAMB) a term I [...]
