Luigi’s Mansion LTTP Review — It’s Like Silent Hill for Kids!

Before Luigi jogged his way on over to the Nintendo 3DS in Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, he starred in the original series’ starting entry on the GameCube launch title, Luigi’s Mansion. Having never played the first one before, I wanted to be able to compare to its new handheld successor and just experience it for the first time. Upon opening the doors to the mansion, I found something flawed, but very special.

Harvest Moon GBC Coming to 3DS eShop

The second title in the prolific Harvest Moon franchise is getting a 3DS release, according to a tweet sent by Natsume earlier today. Harvest Moon GBC will be appearing on the 3DS eShop Thursday, marking its third release on a Nintendo handheld.  The farming simulation game was originally released to the Game Boy in 1998 as Harvest Moon GB, making it the first of the popular farming sim to go portable. A colorized version was released on the Game Boy [...]

Nintendo Reveals Pikmin 3 Release Date

The anxious wait for a Pikmin 3 release date has finally come to an end. Out of the deluge of news coming from yesterday’s Nintendo Direct conference came the announcement that fans can hurl around their cute little flower people starting August 4th. With the charming world now in HD and the addition of new Pikmin types, such as the rock and flying Pikmin, this third installment in the series seems geared to make a big splash this summer.

Yoshi’s Island 3DS Flutter Jumps Into Your Heart

I hope you’re ready to lay tons of eggs only to subsequently beam them at your enemies once again, because Yoshi’s Island 3DS has been announced. The latest Nintendo Direct showed footage of the upcoming third installment in the Yoshi’s Island series. With the last entry having been Yoshi’s Island DS back in 2006, this has been a greatly anticipated title. For the transition to the Nintendo 3DS, the game will receive the 3D graphics overhaul, but the stereoscopic 3D [...]

A Link to the Past Gets A Sequel — But What Does It Mean?

Yes, you read that correctly. Nintendo has been cooking up a brand new 3DS Legend of Zelda adventure that will take place in same timeline and Hyrule as The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past from the Super Nintendo. While there is no official North American title yet, it can be safe to assume that it will probably be A Link to the Past 2 as the Japanese title, Zelda no Densetsu: Kamigami no Triforce 2, simply adds a 2 [...]

The Graying of Gaming

Picture from Old Super Mario by Daiki Sugimoto These past few month have been filled with interviews about high profile creators discussing retirement. It really put a perspective on what I see as a hobby, when the people whose works I grew up with are finally getting to the point that they realistically aren’t going to be doing what I love seeing them do anymore. As somebody that grew up with these media figures, this transition is going to be [...]

Forget EA, Fight the Real Enemy – Reddit!

So, it’s been about a day since this whole “EA is the worst company in America” thing happened. I was thinking of writing something about it directly because seeing a bunch of entitled video game fans with no concept of how the real world works making a statement that a video game publisher is worse than, say, a bank that forecloses on the homes of soldiers or an oil company that poisons the earth, is simply offensive. I love video [...]

[Infinite Themes] Animal Crossing – More Than Meets the Eye

Take one glance at Animal Crossing and what do you see? You see a disproportionately-shaped boy and/or girl interacting with anthropomorphic animals and shaking oranges off of trees. Riveting, isn’t it? The truth is there is another dimension to Animal Crossing that can only be discovered by playing the game itself. This is one of those series doesn’t tell you what to do, but rather becomes what you make of it. Given the primary goal of paying off your mortgage [...]
