Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut Review – Pleasantville

When Deadly Premonition first came out in 2010 it created a bit of a stir. A lot of reviewers couldn’t get past the dated visuals and technical difficulties of the game. It’s fair to say that it wasn’t until a few key voices in the reviews industry rallied against these critics and began granting the game 10/10, 5/5, GOTY status that people began paying attention to a game that was basically a love letter to late 20th century weirdness. Deadly [...]

The Tales series received a resurgence of critical and commercial acclaim back in Japan with the release of Tales of Xillia. Using a slightly updated new art style and a different narrative focus, Tales of Xillia proved to be one of the most popular Tales game in recent memory. Today, Namco Bandai announced that Tales of Xillia will be arriving on North American shores August 6th for the Playstation 3. I for one am looking forward to this as Tales [...]

This is the first time Blizzard has come out to lend their voice for a console so prepare your bodies to have complicated RTS experiences on a console. ….So yeah. Diablo III. Neat.

[News] Suda 51 Brings Back Assassins in Killer is Dead

Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has unveiled Suda 51′s newest game, Killer is Dead. I then proceeded to scour the web for as much information as I could on the subject. The game’s protagonist is 35 year old Mondo Zappa who finds himself recruited to the Brian Execution Firm. As his new title of “executioner” implies, he must assassinate the most evil of criminals wielding his sword and robotic arm. His machine arm has the ability to turn into a variety [...]

The newest in the Atelier series, Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk will be coming to North America in March of this year. Although the Atelier games are usually localized and brought over to North America by NIS America, Tecmo Koei’s purchase of the developers Gust has changed some things. This time around, Tecmo Koei America will be publishing while NIS America remains responsible for localization. The game will be released March 5th for the Playstation 3. Fans of the [...]

[Review] Zone of the Enders HD Collection

HD Remakes occupy a dangerous territory. On the one hand, they bring back old favorites (hopefully) better than ever with an updated image and design elements. On the other hand, they cater to nostalgia which is a dangerous sentiment, as the feeling tends to gloss over negatives in favor of an overall positive experience to remind oneself that a game may not have been good as it was once thought to be. Luckily for me I never played Zone of [...]

[PAX] The Violence Descends in Injustice: Gods Among Us

I watched the movies, the cartoons, and played the games but I never really got into the DC comics. Still I’d like to think years of other media interpretations have prepared me to suitably write about the upcoming DC fighting game Injustice: Gods of Among Us. Developed by NetherRealm Studios (Mortal Kombat). Beyond the jump you will find a preview of titans clashing.

[PAX] Some Time With Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two

For those of you who played the first Epic Mickey, the sequel will be very familiar. Introduced by Warren Spector in 2010, Epic Mickey was designed as both a love letter to Disney animation and a showcase for some of the creative functions of the Wii system. Two years have passed and the game has gone multi-platform but I was assured that all versions on the console system were equal in terms of scope and creativity. Hit the jump for [...]

[News] Haunting Ground Looks At Future Re-Release

The ESRB has rated PS2 survival-horror game Haunting Ground for the Playstation 3 indicating a PSN re-release. The game is pretty damn hard to find (I’ve tried) so I haven’t actually played it yet but I hear…interesting things. Well for instance a good 40% of the images I found while looking for the header were NSFW. Anyways, the Capcom game made to follow predecessor Clock Tower 3 has you in the role of the defenseless heroine Fiona as she escapes [...]
