PlayStation Vita LogoThe Playstation Vita introduced Sony into the next generation of handheld gaming, bringing advanced technologies allowing for complex visuals and vivid display able to challenge even console offerings. The Vita debuted in 2012 with a complex array of touchscreen control, dual thumb sticks, wireless network and high resolution display. One of the notable features of the design is the departure from the convention UMD format in favor of digital content and cartridge based delivery.

The Vita has evolved with Sony beyond the portable realm, with outreach to smartphone producers and the Vita TV, the platform is expanding beyond its shell to gain a larger user base as a multi-solution system.

Unity Provides More Details for Free PSM Build Option

We’ve received more details from Unity concerning its free PlayStation Mobile build option. With Unity for PSM, indie developers will not need a PS Vita Dev Kit and will have a much easier time producing content for the Vita. However, unlike the existing Vita build option from Unity, it does not provide developers with “full native access” to the Vita and PSN. It is unclear if Unity for PSM will include the Visual Studio integration and Razor CPU/GPU performance tools. [...]

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 Coming West This Summer

You know I’m always surprised by the surprising staying power of the Hyperdimension Neptunia series despite having many successful installments and spinoffs. I suppose it’s because I’ve personally never played a single title in the series. All that might change however as Idea Factory has announced that Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 will be making its way west this summer to both North America and Europe. The remake of the first game for the PS Vita will feature new graphics, event scenarios, [...]

Sony Consoles Getting The Swapper in May

Facepalm Games’ The Swapper is an exercise in haunting atmosphere. Though a winner of multiple game design awards, I hardly saw anybody talk about this gem of a game. Set on a desolate space station, this puzzle-platformer utilizes  unique projecting and cloning mechanic to explore the dark, cold crevices of space. Curve Studios announced today that The Swapper will be ported to the Playstation 4, Playstation 3, and PS Vita consoles this May. If anything, this game will be a [...]

Next PS Vita Game for 2014 Is…Cheesy?

Of all the games of mice and men, the ones about mice are pretty hilarious. That’s why Curve Studios is excited to announce their first PS Vita game of 2014 is…*drumroll*… MouseCraft! Mousecraft, which is actually not a mouse version of Minecraft, is an indie puzzle game that pits you against the classic “cheese in a maze”. You’ll manipulate a series of puzzle blocks to guide a group of mice to their dairy dreams, while being observed by what looks to be [...]
