Soul Sacrifice Review – A Beautiful, Dark, Twisted, Fairy Tale

It’s hard to disassociate Keiji Inafune as a game creator known for anything other than his many works at Capcom such as Mega Man and Dead Rising. Especially not after their public separation and Capcom’s handling of the very same game titles which Inafune’s name is basically synonymous with. So when it was announced that Inafune was developing a Monster Hunter-esque game for the PS Vita, people became interested. However, given my personal dissuasion towards the monster hunting genre as [...]

Forget EA, Fight the Real Enemy – Reddit!

So, it’s been about a day since this whole “EA is the worst company in America” thing happened. I was thinking of writing something about it directly because seeing a bunch of entitled video game fans with no concept of how the real world works making a statement that a video game publisher is worse than, say, a bank that forecloses on the homes of soldiers or an oil company that poisons the earth, is simply offensive. I love video [...]

[News] Primal Carnage: Genesis On PS4? You Bet Jurassic Is!

Here around the Twinfinite office, we spend a lot of time talking about video games — really. Specifically, we talk about how we could make games better. Pretty much any discussion on this topic ends with one of two conclusions: 1. Include the ability for players to dynamically affect the relationships they have with the characters and environment. 2. Add dinosaurs. Well, it looks like at least ONE of those things will be coming to the PS4: Primal Carnage: Genesis [...]

[News] Xbox Related Domain Registered, Potential Event in April

Not to be outdone by Sony’s PS4 announcement, the website xboxevent.com was registered almost exactly as the PS4 event ended. No official announcement has been made yet, but it’s rumored that Microsoft will have an event of their own sometime in April. This would put the announcement of a new Xbox console before the E3 convention. I think it’s pretty easy to guess what the purpose of this event will be: to unveil a new console. It would make sense [...]

[News] Bungie and Activision Show Off More Destiny; Third Impact is Nigh

Activision has come out bringing with them Bungie to show off Destiny. A couple days ago Bungie held a press conference of their own to show off the first details and images of their new IP after the Halo franchise. The event, as interesting as it was, letdown many with its lack of actual in-game footage. Turns out, they were holding onto all that delicious in-game footage to show off at Sony’s Playstation 4 event. The game, which is [...]

[News] Blizzard Entertainment Teams Up With Sony to Bring Diablo III for PS4 (and 3 but Shhh)

Blizzard Entertainment has come out to partner up with Sony and on the Playstation 4 (and 3 but that’s not that important) to bring you Diablo III for the Playstation 4 consoles (and Playstation 3, and again, not as important). This is the first time Blizzard has come out to lend their voice for a console so prepare your bodies to have complicated RTS experiences on a console. ….So yeah. Diablo III. Neat.

[News] Playstation 4 Officially Announced – Due out Holiday 2013

After weeks of speculating, leaking, etc., we finally have an official announcement for the next generation console from Sony, the Playstation 4. It will be touting the following: Local Storage HDD “Enhanced PC GPU” X86 CPU “Supercharged PC Architecture” 8 GB Unified memory The controller, as pictured below, is the aptly named Dualshock 4, which now includes a share button, a light, and some sort of touch pad on the front. The latter is still up for speculation, but we [...]

[News] Is This the New Playstation 4 Controller?

Earlier today Destructoid posted this picture of a potential Playstation 4 controller. In line with patent reports floating around the web, it looks to incorporate the touchscreen similar to the one found on the Playstation Vita. Additionally, if early reports are to believed, it also looks to add Playstation move elements which could be what that blue light thing might be. Reports suggest that this probably isn’t the final design but a prototype but it’s the most accurate physical form [...]

[Wormlight] The Discussion on Mobile Games Continues With Sony’s Chris Mahoney

Games Industry International has the report on Chris Mahoney’s talk at the recent Appsworld conference regarding console versus mobile gaming. Though Mahoney freely admits that mobile games are raking in some good dough and it’s easy to publish on the platform, he also suggests that porting console games to phones and tablets can be problematic. Part of the reason why is obvious: the console experience is not like the mobile experience. Even though mobile gaming is on the rise, the [...]
