Everyone’s favorite plumbing simulator, Super Mario Bros. 3, is now available for download off of the 3DS eShop for $4.99. Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels Released on Wii U Virtual Console

I always used to struggle with this game when I was a kid, on the Super Mario All-Stars 16-bit version. But now the original version of Super Mario Bros. toughest entry has been released on Wii U’s Virtual Console. It’s been somewhat of a slow build for the Wii U VC, this seems like something that should have already been released. But porting is not quite as simple as you may think, so it’s understandable that they’ve held off on this. [...]

The first games to be released are Metroid Fusion, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, and Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi’s Island however release dates have yet to be specified. Why not the 3DS as well seems to be the immediate response [...]

DS Games Are Joining the Wii U Virtual Console?

Out of all of the strange and exciting news coming out of Nintendo last night, one of the tidbits that had people talking the most was a bizarre announcement made by Nintendo. Apparently, the hurdles keeping DS software from running on a Wii U had finally been overcome allowing for emulatio of DS games on the system and gamepad. That was… unexpected. What this means is that Nintendo has plans to add DS games to the Virtual Console library soon, [...]

Fan 3-D Rendering of Earthbound’s Onett Is Wonderful

Earthbound is a serious contender for greatest game of all time….that I have never played. Which is odd, because the 50′s styled, Japanese-in-origin SNES RPG seems totally and completely up my alley. Now that’s out on the Wii U Virtual Console, I’ve been really jonesing to get my hands on it…but now that I’ve seen Christopher Behr’s beautiful renderings of the 16-bit game in 3-D, I’m not sure if it will be enough. Christopher Behr, a “3-D designer for hire”, according [...]

Sweet Mega Man and Indie Game Deals Hit the Nintendo eShop for a Limited Time

The holidays are in full swing as everything is going on sale all over the place. Nintendo is getting in the holiday spirit by offering periodic sales on their 3DS and Wii U eShops every week. The latest one is for 2 Mega Man games, Mega Man: Dr. Wily’s Revenge on the 3DS and Mega Man X on the Wii U, both for a beautiful $2 each. However, the sale won’t be lasting long, just for a couple of days, [...]

Yoshi’s Cookie is Being Taken Off the Wii Virtual Console

So Europe, Asia and North American marketplaces are all seeing the removal of one of Nintendo’s older titles from the service. Yoshi’s Cookie for the NES has been available on the Virtual Console since 2008, and while it might not be the biggest part of Nintendo’s classics, it begs to question why? This isn’t the first game to get delisted from the Virtual Console, but those games that were had major licensing issues. That actually may be the reason. The [...]
