Wii U logoNintendo’s latest (8th) generation offering in the market is the Wii U, released in 2012 it was the first of the next-generation consoles into the race. Heavy focus went into improving CPU performance and Graphic overhead on the console this round so the platform would be considered viable for core audiences and a market already caught up in higher resolutions and details in their games.

Other considerations went into creating dual screen experiences with the Wii U controller acting as a dedicated interface with it’s touchscreen display. Improvements were made for networking with a universal system over friend codes and system codes.

Super Smash Bros WiiU Super Smash Bros WiiU 3DS advance wars Super Mario Bros. Super Mario Bros. 2 Swords & Soldiers Nintendo hasn't done much with the Wii U's NFC just yet, but the potential is there and they've spoken freely about wanting to expand on it. A hint of things to come? Viking penguins storm the beach in an early level - just one of the many new enemies our primate protagonists must face off against in their latest adventure. The game's first boss, a horned-helmet-sporting circus seal, looms over our heroes menacingly. I didn't know a seal could do much of anything with menace, but there it is. Among the elements returning from prior entries are, of course, the K-O-N-G letters, present in every non-boss level - but, to what purpose? You'll have to collect them all to find out! The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Not on Xbox One…Yet?

Are your spidey senses tingling at the thought of playing The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on your shiny new Xbox One? I hope not, because you’re in for some mighty disappointing news. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be available April 29 on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Wii U, and 3DS…but not the Xbox One. The first hint that something was amiss was when Activision pulled the Xbox One box art from the game’s site. Since then, Activision has commented, “We are [...]

Super Mario Bros. 3 on the 3DS Virtual Console and More GBA Games on Wii U

Everyone’s favorite plumbing simulator, Super Mario Bros. 3, is now available for download off of the 3DS eShop for $4.99. This is the original NES version of the game, so if you were hoping for the revamped All-Stars style GBA game, you’re gonna have to wait just a bit longer. But in the meantime, you can once again play what some consider to be the greatest NES game of all time anywhere and everywhere you go! I know I’ll be picking it up. [...]

“You Got Served” – Nintendo Sued Over Dual Screen Technology

Nintendo has been accused of patent infringement by a Texas LLC called Secure Axcess over dual screen technology. The patent, shown here, was issued in 2003 by this company and they are sporting a raging litigious boner for The House that Mario Built. While they had tried the same tactic earlier this year over the DS in all its incarnations, this time they’re apparently targeting the Wii U’s multi-screen technology. The lawsuit not only names Nintendo, but a number of [...]

PAX East – Shovel Knight Hands-On Impressions

While at PAX East, I got a chance to look at the almost complete Shovel Knight. The game is looking good on PC, Wii U, and 3DS with the title being very close to release. Yacht Games had two stages available to play, complete with end stage bosses to show off. The first thing I noticed upon picking up the game for the first time was just how tight the controls were. If you’ve ever played classic games like Ducktales [...]

PAX East – JetGetters Hands-On Impressions

JetGetters, from tinyBuild, successfully mashes two utterly antithetical game concepts together. It takes the shenanigans of the grappling hook from Just Cause 2 and combines it with the intense dog fighting from the Battlefield series. The hook, however, is that JetGetters is not so much focused on the one-to-one simulation Battlefield attempts. In fact, tinyBuild has put an emphasis on ensuring the game felt great to play, which it undoubtedly does. The build I got hands on with was showcasing some of the core game-play mechanics. With hijacking being the [...]

Everything’s Coming Up Smash Bros. – Vlogging About Video Games

Are you crazy excited the next Super Smash Bros. like I am? Well, let’s hop right into the latest Vlogging About Video Games and chat about it together, shall we? It was a slow noos week, and I really only cared about the Smash Bros. direct. Thank GYAH for the questions you all sent in. (This week, I took from our Youtube community’s comments!) Oh, and I’m sorry about the crazy lighting! It’s this asshole called the sun. Yeah, guess [...]
