Nintendo Dropping WiFi Services for Wii and DS in May

Nintendo’s wifi offerings were always the black sheep of the console bunch.  Unreliable connections, limited features, and bizarre options for DLC gained the service poor favor, at least for Wii owners– the DS wifi fared much better, admittedly.  No matter how you feel about it though, Nintendo is giving the services the axe this May. Servers and services that use Nintendo Wifi Connection will no longer be supported after May 20th.  This means no more Brawl or Mario Kart DS online play and devices [...]

The Wii Lives On in North America

News broke recently that production of Nintendo’s last-generation Wii was ceasing in Japan, and that the beloved old piece of motion-gaming would no longer be available, helping to pave the road for success – or so Nintendo hopes – of it’s successor, the Wii U. Yesterday, a Nintendo representative confirmed to Gamespot that this only affects the Japanese market — the Wii will continue to be available in North American markets, at least through this holiday season. I haven’t seen any [...]

Next-Gen Gamers – Kirby’s Return to Dreamland

Next-Gen Gamers is a feature where I explore the world of gaming through the eyes of my kids – literally the next generation of gamers, raised in a house that promotes playing together and sharing our time! It’ll look at games that appeal to kids more than adults, as well as those that are great for both, either through cooperative play or controller sharing. I introduced my son at a pretty young age to Kirby as a character, through the [...]

Take-Two Interactive Lays Claim to New Bully Trademark

Are we in for a new Bully game? A trademark by Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive may mean just that. The trademark was filed with the US Patent & Trademark Office on July 25. The original Bully released for the PS2 back in 2006. Since, the game hasn’t seen a rerelease since it appeared on the Wii, PSN, 360, and PC back in 2008. A trademark doesn’t necessarily mean we can expect a new game any times soon, but I’d like to believe in [...]

[LTTP Review] Super Metroid – Mama (Brain) Said Knock You Out

This week at Twinfinite we are celebrating the birthday of our lovely and talented co-founder/Executive Editor, Yamilia Avendaño. In her honor, we thought it would be fun to focus on the best of this industry including our absolute favorite games. Even though I have been a PC guy for the majority of my gaming life, my favorite game of all time is actually from the Super Nintendo. By my estimation, that console is the best considering how many amazing games [...]

[News] Surprise! Nintendo rocks the retail scene in Japan

According to Siliconera (via a report on 4Gamer), the retail scene in Japan (for games) is dominated by Nintendo with Pokémon at the top. In the list of 30 best-selling games of 2012, you can catch the Wii, WiiU, 3DS, and DS with only six titles overall marked for the PS3. I pasted the handy chart with all the info below the jump, including numbers of sales, and you can see that Pokémon Black/White 2 choked out even Animal Crossing [...]

[News] Disney Infinity looks awesome, is slated for release in June

[youtube]http://youtu.be/96U2gkgK0o4[/youtube] Just in case you’ve been hearing all the buzz regarding Disney Infinity but still don’t have an idea of what all the fuss is about, I’m here to report that it is a thing. It is a glorious thing featuring Disney and Pixar characters, in which you get to choose your own adventures, explore any of the characters’ worlds (called Play Sets), and buy real toys to further interact with the game a-la Skylanders. Disney Infinity is going to [...]

[News] Get Excited and Apathetic for the Wii U’s Launch Window Lineup

While I am one of the few people I know that is just a bit excited for the Wii U, it appears as if the games that are being released on launch day as well as the few months following are doing their best to keep my optimism at bay. Sprinkled amongst the mass of the usual, mediocre day 1 games are a few gems that embody what Nintendo’s upcoming next-gen console is all about. Hit the jump for the [...]

[PAX] Some Time With Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two

For those of you who played the first Epic Mickey, the sequel will be very familiar. Introduced by Warren Spector in 2010, Epic Mickey was designed as both a love letter to Disney animation and a showcase for some of the creative functions of the Wii system. Two years have passed and the game has gone multi-platform but I was assured that all versions on the console system were equal in terms of scope and creativity. Hit the jump for [...]

[News] Xseed Has a Release Date for The Last Story

Finally. On August 14th, 2012 we will finally get The Last Story. Hironobu Sakaguchi’s latest project from Mistwalker is finally getting a western release a year and a half after Japan and six months after Europe’s localization. Over a year since Nintendo of America trademarked the game in North America. This further proves that the The Last Story is coming to North American audiences. I must reiterate this because it has gone through so much to even make it here. [...]
